So here’s a prime example of Chris Dave doing everything he can to trip up Foley and failing to do so. We all win in this scenario.

That bassline - played perfectly throughout - is originally from the James Brown tune “Licking Stick” 

There are some more videos of this gig that I’ll be posting in the next few days. This is the first one I saw. Chris Dave’s entrance slays me every time.

So the lineup for the Chris Dave trio at this time was Chris Dave, Foley and Kebbi Williams. But Kebbi had an issue at the airport and didn’t make it in time. So the sax player, Zhenya Strigalev, filled in at the last minute. (He was also the booking agent for the gig.)

I’ve watched these videos dozens of times and I think they’re kind of playing a game where Chris Dave tries to throw Foley off. That will become more apparent in some of the other videos. (Spoiler: he never succeeds.)

I think they also might have been fucking with poor Zhenya a little, although he was kind of fucked regardless.
